Mercy Nkatha

Student Lawyer

Mercy is a fourth-year law student at the University of Nairobi with a deep passion for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) advocacy and legal aid. Guided by her Christian faith, she is committed to upholding fairness, justice, and the inherent dignity of every individual.

She approaches her legal studies with a strong conviction about the transformative role of the law. “I view the law as a powerful tool for social change, especially in addressing inequalities and amplifying the voices of those often unheard.” This belief shapes her desire to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and the lived realities of communities, ensuring that justice is not only available in theory but truly accessible in practice.

She is particularly interested in supporting survivors through accessible legal services and contributing to systems that respond with compassion, accountability, and integrity. “I believe the law is not only a tool for justice but also a means to restore hope and dignity, especially for those who are most vulnerable.”
