Elizabeth (“Beth”) Murugi Nderitu
Board member, Justice Pamoja Kenya, Beth is an accomplished development leader with more than 15 years of experience strengthening systems and building partnerships across Africa. She has led regional programs with USAID Kenya and East Africa, TradeMark Africa, and TechnoServe—directing multimillion-dollar initiatives that connected governments, regional bodies, and communities to promote growth and resilience.
At Justice Pamoja, Beth brings this systems-strengthening expertise into the justice sector. She is passionate about empowering communities, building trust between institutions and citizens, and ensuring that the most vulnerable can access fair and dependable justice. Her experience working at the intersection of government policy, donor priorities, and community needs equips her to help Justice Pamoja bridge gaps and create sustainable change.
Beth holds an MBA in International Business from American University (Washington, D.C.) and a BSc in Agricultural Education and Extension from Egerton University (Kenya).
Brian Cooper
Brian Cooper, Executive Director, is an experienced attorney and justice systems strategist with over 14 years of legal experience spanning public service, international development, and systems reform. Most recently, he served as the Interim Global Prosecution Specialist for International Justice Mission (IJM), where he supported field offices across Africa, Asia, and Latin America in aligning legal casework with IJM’s global protection model. His work has focused on building legal communities of practice, designing trauma-informed interventions, and promoting measurable, survivor-centered prosecution strategies.
Brian's connection to Kenya spans decades. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nakuru, supporting local NGOs in sustainable enterprise development, and later returned to collaborate with IJM-Kenya’s legal and advocacy teams on prosecution strategies to address violence against women and children. His experience also includes leading legal operations at a federal agency in Washington, D.C., managing teams, budgets, and strategic reforms during a period of intense change.
Brian holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he studied international human rights and co-authored model legislation in partnership with survivor-led NGOs. He also holds degrees in English and Business. He brings a deep faith in systems change, a commitment to collaborative leadership, and a belief that justice must be local, survivor-informed, and sustainably resourced.
Charles D. Bayne
Board member, Justice Pamoja U.S., Charles Bayne is an experienced product leader with 20 years of combined product management and technology expertise. He has spent the past decade in healthcare, focusing on revenue cycle, utilization review, clinical appeals, and telemedicine, where he has helped organizations streamline processes and deliver innovative solutions.
A strategic thinker and highly organized operator, Charles thrives in matrixed organizations—partnering with operations, engineering, design, and clinical leaders to guide products from ideation through development, deployment, and evaluation. He is known for championing products, fostering stakeholder buy-in, and delivering results on time and with quality. With a passion for strategy and design thinking, Charles consistently identifies new opportunities and untapped potential, applying both tactical execution and long-term vision to create meaningful impact.
Charles holds an MBA from the Booth School at the University of Chicago.
Peter Williams
Board member, Justice Pamoja U.S., Peter Williams is an experienced anti-slavery leader with a strong track record in non-profit management across diverse cultural contexts. He currently serves as Regional President, Asia Pacific at International Justice Mission, where he oversees IJM’s efforts to strengthen justice systems, combat modern slavery, and protect vulnerable communities across the region.
Peter brings a unique blend of legal and organizational expertise. He began his career as a Crown Prosecutor in New Zealand, handling jury trial prosecutions, before joining IJM as a legal fellow in India. Since then, he has held multiple leadership roles across Asia, advancing justice system reform and supporting survivors of violence and exploitation.
With a BA and LLB from the University of Auckland, Peter combines legal acumen with proven skills in leadership, management, pastoral care, and international relations.
